The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it.

With generative AI, mankind has invented a way to produce as many different meaningless instances of the roughly familiar in response to vague inputs as energy supply allows. Moreover, the energy going into this process is mere physical energy delivered over the power grid, whereas refuting bullshit requires humans’ mental energy. Neither has so-called AI been programmed to refute bullshit nor would those computer programs or the companies behind them care at all.

AI is primarily a mental pollution problem. We do not need AI safety, we need environmental laws for the noosphere and a hefty price tag on the emissions of AI factories.
